We were lucky enough to be chosen to review another BRIO accessory, the BRIO Crane & Mountain Tunnel, which works alongside the existing train tracks and pieces we have already. The crane and mountain tunnel consist of 2 large pieces of sturdy plastic that sit on top of each other. Also in the box are a play person, truck and gold bar.
Placing the pieces together creates a mountain with lofty crane attachment (you can however use them as 2 individual pieces too as the track goes through the crane section) that lifts the gold into position within the truck or mountain side. Whilst driving through the tunnel there are 4 sounds which are activated by the truck passing through, it really is an interactive treasure trove as each side has something new.
The crane actually works by turning the handle on the side to lower the magnet into position to attach to the gold bar, this can then be wound back up and deposited ready for delivery.
We love that once again BRIO have made something that integrates well with the rest of the wooden tracks and stretches the imagination, the girls made up stories of gold diggers coming to raid the mountain so they had to rescue the bar of gold before it was stolen!
Another game was that they were leprechauns and had to hide the gold within the mountain before the big people came and found it!
It was so funny to listen to them creating their own scenes and that is the whole point in educational play – it gives them something to think about and problem solve.
