8 Ways to Make Your Bedroom the Perfect Sanctuary
From bed frames to lighting, the things you place in your bedroom and the way you decorate it can all be key factors in the ambience you create in this room. To create the perfect indulgent bedroom, there are a number of things to consider and Bed-e-Buys have offered their tips to help you reach that perfect sanctuary.
Our bedrooms are where the day starts and where the day ends, making them one of the most important rooms in the house, particularly when it comes to relaxing. This space needs to nurture you, providing you with the calming space that you can unwind in and that you can get a good night’s sleep in.
Here are just a few things you’ll need to consider to create this harmonious space.
To start with, your bedroom needs to be all about you and not about everyone else in the house (except your partner, of course). Create a space that you know is yours by making sure your door remains shut at all times (install a lock if necessary); this controls kids and pets while also helping with the temperature too.
Dark rooms that have a cool temperature are ideal for sleeping in. So make sure your curtains or blinds keep out the light and help to insulate the room too, keeping it cool during the warmer summer months. If it’s going to be a hot day, leave your curtains shut while the sun’s out, as this will help to keep the temperature low.
You may have the perfect room, but without a comfortable bed, this will all be rendered useless. Therefore, you’ll need to choose a mattress that suits your body type and feels comfortable to you. If it starts to feel uncomfortable, look at changing it while also looking to see if alternative bed frames may help too. A bed frame can be the focal point in any bedroom and dressing the bed makes it all that much cosier.
Make sure the material of your pillowcases and your sheets feels good on your skin, and get two lots so you always have one on your bed while the other’s being washed.
Just like your mattress, your pillows will need to be chosen to suit you. Something soft and luxurious will help to lull you to sleep, and don’t forget to add a dust-mite pillow protector too!
When choosing your pillows, make sure you consider the same things when it comes to your duvet too. Choose ones that will adapt to the changing weather, providing you with the warmth and comfort you need all year round. And if you constantly fight over the duvet with your other half, why not opt for one that’s one size bigger than your bed, such as a king-size duvet on a double bed?
You need to feel inspired in your bedroom space, and a great way to create this stimulating personalised space is to add decorations to your bed. Bright colours that reflect your personality alongside cushions that bring a bit of glamour are ideal. Or if you like to keep things simple, opt for a range of understated pale-coloured pillows that you can flop into after a long day at the office.
Lights will help to create the perfect ambience in your bedroom, so it’s important that you have a variety of options. You could choose to add a dimmer to your main ceiling light or add table lamps to either side of the bed to create mood lighting that’s great for reading and isn’t too bright.
