Jacob and Ethan were recently invited to trial a 20 minute driving lessons with Admiral Young Driver in Newcastle. Held at Newcastle Racecourse the Admiral Young Driver lessons give the chance for under 17s to practice driving and get to grips behind the wheel.
Experiences include everything from 20 minute lessons starting from £19.95 to full skill days starting at £99.00.
We arrived 10 minutes late and as each lesson is scheduled to the minute we had thrown things a little – oops, the joys of trying to get 4 kids out of the door! Ushered straight into their cars the boys were off on their lessons and we got to watch as they drove around a purpose built course within Newcastle racecourse grounds. Learning everything from the gears, pedals to reversing in a small space, the boys thoroughly enjoyed their taster session and are already asking to go back again.
You can’t get a driving licence in the UK until you’re 17 but now, thanks to YOUNG DRIVER™, if you’re 10 or over, you can learn to drive at one of our 45 UK centres. With over 400,000 lessons delivered since 2009 we are the UKs biggest under 17 driving school. Its a great opportunity for junior drivers.
The boys were given a Drive Diary to keep which the instructor fills in with what they need work on and what they covered each lesson. The drivers also took the boys through all of the details of what to swat up on before their next lesson, this is great as it gave the boys a taste of being behind the wheel of a real car and certainly made them eager to learn more!
Research shows that it is a lack of driving experience – not a lack of years on the planet – that causes 1 in 5 newly qualified drivers to crash within 6 months of passing their test. Something had to be done to reduce this frightening statistic!
The boys were given free lessons in return for this review. All views and opinions are our own and genuine.
