I have to admit I am a self confessed bag lady.
Not in a bad way I hasten to add – more in a ‘you can never have too many bags’ kind of way!
Being the eldest of 3 sisters I can always remember having some kind of bag with me, whether it was one of those coin purse type ones that I use to carry my change in when we went to the arcades as a child or when I hit 8 or so and insisted on carrying lip balm everywhere with me. Then of course the teenage years when I had a huge backpack for school and a special bag for when I went out shopping with friends on a weekend, carrying pocket money and girly things, compact mirror and red lippy thinking I was all grown up!
After the teenage years come the time when you really do realise the importance of a handbag, dancing around them in clubs and rifling in them for taxi fair at the end of a night out with the girls. When not out with the girls it was a changing bag I used as I had my first son at 21 so carrying nappies and wipes became the norm for the next few years, although I have to admit that more often than not I tended to use an oversize handbag instead of a dedicated changing bag as none were pretty enough back then! (It was 1996 after all!)
These days though I love to keep up with all of the fashion and bag news, finding out what is on topic and which are the must have ones of the season. Although I can’t afford any of the top designer names I like to try and be on trend with the season and have a couple of bags that I use all the time, I try to alternate between them often. I had lots for a long time that sat in the bottom of the wardrobe and never saw the light of day until I realised what a waste it was! Instead of keeping things for best we really should be using them now and making the most of them – I am a huge live in the moment person so why should I not follow that through on all aspects of my life, including my bags!
I know I am either in one camp or the other, there tends to be those who have one bag regardless of what they are up to and others who have a bag for EVERY occasion! These were the responses when I asked some fellow bloggers which camp they fell in to:
I own 2 bags and they’re both rucksacks!! Hayley from I am River
Work bag and Mommy bag. Always forgetting to switch the purse over and often have to get a fellow Mommy to buy the tea! Gail from YammyMommy
I am a bit of a bag hoarder and when I get a new bag keep the old one but rarely actually use it again! Jen from Just Average Jen
I have a large bag, which has so many compartments you could get lost in it. But’s it’s a great back to house my bits and bobs, including my laptop! Leyla from Motherhood Diaries
I have about 40 handbags. I generally use one or two on a day to day basis! The rest are in the wardrobe! Rachel from Coffee, Cake, Kids
I have a ‘going out’ bag and an everyday handbag. I recently got a jacket with big enough pockets to ditch the bag altogether and stuff my purse, keys and any other necessities into my pockets. Fariba from Mixed Race Family
I have a couple but not loads. I’ve never been obsessed with bags and shoes! Emma from Me & B Make Tea

For those who prefer a more traditional home-like experience when on vacation, a timeshare can make sense. If you’ve gotten many years of good use out of your timeshare and now want to get rid of it, a timeshare cancellation company like Timeshare Freedom Group or Lonestar transfer may be able to help.
