When I think about my dream kitchen it always includes a monster of an oven that is just begging for Christmas to roll around and go into full on dinner mode! It of course has to be cream and have that old cottage style about it, one that looks as though it has been in place for years and years! Living in a small 3 bed semi made me wonder if I was ever going to have the kitchen of my dreams and apparently dreams do come true thanks to AO.com!
I was contacted about reviewing a Rangemaster oven and given a choice of which I preferred and which would fit etc – however after seeing the Rangemaster Classic Dual Fuel in CREAM all thoughts of how I would get it into the kitchen went out of the window. In hindsight the tears of having to send the delivery men away as we couldn’t get it into the kitchen (and boy did they try!) were all worth it! Thankfully I discovered and removed a stud wall to get my dream cooker into the kitchen, I wouldn’t change a thing and would do it all again in a heartbeat!
The whole kitchen needed an overhaul anyway, now I just need to do the tiling and I have the kitchen I have always wanted…
With 6 burners, 4 cavities and 110cm wide this is a Rangemaster that really has to be seen to appreciate the beauty, the smooth lines and enameled look just add to the overall aesthetics of it. There is a main electric oven and a second fan oven which offers the ability to create both sweet and savoury at once – this way I can have dessert or something else requiring a different temperature cooking at the same time.
I am yet to try the electronic timer as everything I have cooked so far haven’t needed it but it looks really simple to use.
What really impressed me and something I have never had on any oven before is the automatic shut off which the engineer demonstrated for me. You need to hold the button and dial in at the same time for the burner to ignite, if you don’t it will realise that no flame is there after 5 seconds and automatically shut off the gas! I didn’t even know such a thing was possible and what a great peace of mind to have! The cast iron pan supports are great for stability with large or small pans as we have had cookers before where you need to position them in a certain area so as not to be a danger!
I love that there is an internal light that can be used when the oven is not in use, it creates a beautiful glow in the kitchen on a night and really does make it feel more like a cottage kitchen. So far I have found both the ovens and hob really easy to clean and I haven’t had to use a specialist cleaner either – a damp cloth has worked well enough so far.
The storage compartment is a godsend as I have very little storage space in the kitchen so knowing that all of my baking trays are in their own drawer means that I don’t have to remove them from the oven section every time the cooker is in use!
I am really looking forward to putting it through its paces as its my birthday next month and want to do a party for everyone, really its just an excuse to get all those burners and ovens going at once – I can’t wait to see it in all its glory!
Some of the key features include:
4 cavities to choose from
Main electric oven is great for traditional cooking
Second electric fan oven cooks food evenly
Versatile 6 burner gas hob with cast iron pan supports
Dimensions (cm) – H90.5 x W110 x D60.8
If you have walls you want knocking down and need an excuse to do so then I couldn’t think of a better reason! You won’t be disappointed and may just have a reason to bake every day!
XOXO
Debbie
