With the lockdown still well under way there are more than a few things that I am missing at the moment.
I thought it would be a good idea to document a couple of these things. Meaning that once the world returns to normal I may be a little less hesitant to take them for granted.
Family
Top of anyone’s list right now is family time. The last time I saw my grandchildren was Christmas Day. Over a month. Same with my mum and sisters, talking on the phone is one thing but oh my gosh I need a hug from family so freaking much!
I would give anything to sit in the same room as family. Chatting and putting the world to rights, it certainly needs it right now. Coffee, cake and laughs – I think we could all do with some normality.
Coffee & Eating Out
I have never been bothered about going out for coffee or food alone. Its quiet and peaceful to be able to sit and eat a meal by yourself. Sometimes no conversation is needed.
I love people watching so sitting in a coffee shop or restaurant means you can watch the world go by. Making up stories of what people do for a living, where they are going, conversations they are having. Living vicariously through others as I just sit in peace and quiet.
TK Maxx
Oh boy! This is a big one! Everyone knows TK Maxx is my second home, heck the kids have even said I would move in there if I could. It just so happens that a lot more Rae Dunn stuff is starting to make an appearance in the UK stores too.
Then they go and close – wtf is that about! Seriously though, I will be one of those women who are waiting at the door when it reopens!
Cinema
I’m not usually a regular cinema goer but I think just the thought of not being allowed to has made me miss it. The social aspect, the thought of eating popcorn, drinking coke and just having a giggle with my sis as we watch some corny horror movie. It makes me sad that its another thing we are not doing right now.
Travel
I had renewed my passport a few months before lockdown hit so never even got a chance to use it. We had plans for Prague in March for the Day of the Dead festival – which has now been cancelled.
We wanted to go to New York at some point this year – which again isn’t likely to happen. Travel within the UK too though, meeting up with Kira and Claire for our Manchester girls trips and Blog on etc are a huge miss.
Dating!
Yes I have met someone but as his daughter is shielding its hard to meet up right now. I know we will do eventually but on those days where it feels life is at a standstill, I just cant see an end to this monotony.
I would love to be able to go out for drinks or a meal etc but knowing that even when we do get to meet up our options for things to do are limited. Thankfully we are both lovers of the beach so I can see a lot of that happening!
Isn’t it a weird time for us all?! Those little things we use to take for granted have now become something I think a lot of us would treasure. I know once things start to get back some semblance of normality I will relish every little thing I can do.
