The Big Cleans To Do Before Christmas!
And just like that Christmas has crept upon us once again. It always seems to do this. One minute it’s summer, and the next we’re wrapping gifts and trying to resist another glass of Baileys. But, it’s not just the Christmas themed activities that we need to get done.
Just like DIY, food shopping or endless loads of washing, the cleaning still needs to get done. But, instead of running at it all full throttle and risking burn out, there’s a logic order to getting it all done. You can even start some of these steps now on the run up to Christmas, to make sure your festive season is finally stress-free.
The Freezer
First up, it’s a bit of a biggie, but you can make it as easy as you like. We all have freezer food, some of us more than others. Sometimes, we make additional meals and store them away for rainy days, only to forget about them weeks down the line. And at others, we’ve got a backup supply of Ben and Jerry’s (for us) and chicken nuggets (for the kids) when chaos breaks loose.
But, now that’s Christmas is coming, it’s time to have a bit of a sort out. You might be storing a turkey in there for a few days or adding in space for prepare desserts and party food. So to get it all stored, you need to give it a deep clean. Sort through what you no longer need and either eat it up (if it’s in date) or throw it out (if it looks like it’s impossibly growing things). And then, defrost. Get rid of those chunky pieces of ice that block of the freezer and make it almost impossible to use.
The Oven
Then, it’s time to tackle the over. It’s a job that we all know and despise. Cleaning your oven can be a tedious and tiresome activity, but there is a little bit of satisfaction at the end of it all. Nothing beats a sparkly new oven. So, ahead of the Christmas season and the cooking that comes with it, get your marigold on and put in some elbow grease. You want to be able to see your reflection when the job is complete.
The Carpets
Up next, you’ll want to work on the carpets. Carpet cleaning isn’t something we always remember to do. It certainly doesn’t look that dirty, until it’s cleaned that is. Sometimes, it takes a full deep clean to realise just what it should look like! So, get out your carpet cleaner, invest in one or even hire one – it’ll be worth it in the long run. Once the carpets are restored to their once fabulous self, your home will be guest-ready and looking divine.
The Car
And then, once the bigger jobs are ticked off, there’s just one more left to go. Grab your bucket, sponge, detergent and Luxura microfibre cloths and head outside – the car needs a good scrub down. Even if you do it weekly, you’ll want to give it an extra special wash ready for the big day. So, make sure you save this step for a few days before Christmas, just to make sure you won’t have to do it again.
Now that you’ve been through the list, it doesn’t look that daunting does it? You can even take on one job each day of the weekend, just to give yourself a bit of breathing space. But, one thing’s for sure, you’ll be super proud of your efforts come Christmas Day.
XOXO
