We have spend so many days outdoors having picnics at the beach, at the park, heck even just in the garden. There is something so simple about packing sandwiches and heading out for a mobile lunch which you just pop down a blanket, anytime, anywhere – no reservations necessary!
One thing I have noticed though is that we tended to pack the same things time and time again, bottles of coke or water for me and fruit juice for the girls. We would take so much time over packing different things to eat each time, mini cocktails sausages and dip, crisps and fruit one time, sandwiches, crackers and brownies another. However, it was the same drink EVERY TIME!
If you are the same and need some inspiration then hold tight as we have some amazing new flavours for you, from sparkling waters to drinkable vinegar! (Yes you read that right!)
I am going to start up with something that is like wine but not like wine – the kind of drink that is perfect for someone who loves the taste of wine but can’t or doesn’t want to drink. Botonique has some fabulous health benefits too because if contains the beneficial elements of Prelixir®, a unique blend of vitamins, minerals and amino acids which alcohol is known to deplete. This unique element means that Botonique is able to provide anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, alkalising, detoxifying and hydrating benefits, resulting in all the pleasure of drinking without the negative side effects. TADA! rrp: £6.99 available from Ocado or Tabl.com
I am a huge fan of ice tea and flavoured teas so was delighted to discover a fabulous fizzy concoction called Kombucha which is a fermenting green tea! It is full of beneficial bacteria, essential acids and B-Vitamins to help aid gut health and support digestion. Thanks to its natural fizz, Equinox kombucha is the perfect mixer with alcohol for a refreshing cocktail with benefits, or even on it’s own for an alternative to bubbles or fizzy drinks! Ideal to cool down in the summer heat at a BBQ or party in flavours including Raspberry & Elderflower, Wild Berry & Ginger. rrp: £1.80 available from Waitrose
One of my favourite soft drinks has to be from Belvoir, their Elderflower & Rose Presse is stunning and such a beautifully light summer drink. Of course Belvoir is well know for its Elderflower Presse and they have released some brand new flavours just in time for summer, Orange, Lemon & Mint, Botanical Juniper & Tonic and my new favourite Rhubarb & Apple Presse. All Belvoir’s drinks have a triple role as delicious soft drinks, fantastic mixers or exciting ingredients for cocktails however I found the Rhubarb and Apple to be a deliciously fruity, refreshing Presse that I could drink by the gallon! rrp: £3.10 available from all leading supermarkets.
The final offering I have for you is not something I enjoyed myself but it is such a unique concept that I couldn’t not include them! Nonsuch Shrubs are delicious fruit and herb-infused non-alcoholic drinking vinegars created by Henry Chevallier Guild, an eighth generation Aspall Cyder family member. Complex all-natural drinks with no added sugar, each features an unusual ‘harmony’ of sweet, sour and savoury elements – blended with sparkling water and the distinctive ‘bite’ of cyder vinegar. Designed to be sipped like wine instead of glugged like soda I really do think this is an aquired taste, it was a little too salad dressing flavour for me but I can see it appealing to those with a stronger constitution! rrp: £3.50 available from Borough Wines
I have to admit I need to drink more water, well I did before last week when I received a delivery of Skinny Waters in the flavours of Belini, Mojito and Gym & Tonic! They are alcohol free but have the essence of each cocktails which adds the element of fun to water! Skinny Water contains selected essential nutrients, which combine the benefits of hydration with vitamins, minerals, and clinically tested natural ingredients that suppress appetite, block carbohydrates from converting into fat, and increase fat burning, without stimulating the nervous system. rrp: £35.00 for 24 bottles at Bio Synergy
I really hope this weather sticks around a little longer, I am so not ready to give up on my Summer just yet!
XOXO
Debbie
