We were recently asked to review the new Oregon Scientific SmartGlobe, I thought this was a great opportunity to tie in with the girls home school projects and could be something we would use on a regular basis!
The globe itself is really large so great for pointing out countries and cities etc without having to squint like usual to see detail. It takes 3 AAA batteries which are included so that you can make a start straight away by pressing the button on the attached pen. The voice is super loud when you first take it out of the packaging but thankfully there is a volume button. The voice however is crystal clear and well spoken so you can learn how to pronounce all the new information you discover.
The SmartGlobe has AR, Augmented Reality, meaning you can download an App and work in 3D via a tablet or phone.
The girls loved this aspect of it and were in awe of the animals that kept popping up, dinosaurs that walked the Earth and capital city monuments and buildings etc. I think the look on Amelias face says it all!
There are over 220 countries to explore, 25 games to play and 4000+ pieces of information to learn including population, currency and national anthem details of each country you choose.
I really do think this will be amazing with learning for the girls, there is just so much information available on it about different subjects. The fact that we can interact with the globe will keep the girls entertained too, its all about bringing fun into learning and this is definitely something that we are all going to enjoy.
Priced at £59.99 and aimed at children age 5+ I think this would make an excellent Christmas gift or investment piece if you are looking at learning some interesting facts about the world.
