There are a few things I have found that can make a home more cosy. We all love nothing more than sitting inside with the rain hitting the windows, cosied up and watching Disney movies and snacking on chocolate. Follow my simple tips to getting all warm and fuzzy.
Throws & Cushions. You can never have too many, have you ever thought, oh I wish I never bought all those blankets…..whether its making a fort or snuggling on the sofa, throws and blankets are a godsend! I always keep on across the bottom of my bed in case of night chills and we have them on each of the chairs downstairs too. The girls have their own special ones and I bought the most adorable faux fur one from TK Maxx not long back (which didn’t have a tag on and I am sure it should have been at least 3 times what they charged me!) It’s the same with cushions too, I often have to wade through a mountain to get to the kids as they tend to see new ones each time we go out and, lets face it, who doesn’t need cushions in the shape of swans and flamingos!
I was gifted these fabulous cushions from Yorkshire Fabric Shop to co-ordinate with my bedroom. With over 1000 fabrics to choose from for upholstery projects, curtains or cushions, you could have co-ordinated everything! There is a find my fabric section in which you can search by colour, design or texture. The work is perfection and the cushion padding is included too, the cushions came well packaged and were created and made within a matter of days. Highly recommended.
Turn the heating up just a little! There I said it! My ex would be cursing me and telling me just to put another jumper on while simultaneously trying to warm up his finger tips on the toaster! Crank the heating up and while you are at it, take those clothes off the radiator, I found it best to leave clothes on the radiators to dry overnight and then during the day take them off. They are dry enough from the hour or so before I wake that the heating is on.
Candles. Like I said with throws & cushions, you can never have too many! I constantly have candles lit around the house, never unattended though! When I go in the bath I love the glow of candles and it is amazing how many flaws they hide, on a night watching movies with the girls, candles are always lit. Not only do they give a delicious scent but they add a warmth to the room that light bulbs simply can’t. Plus if you are stocked up on candles you can guarantee if the weather does get really bad and power cuts occur, you will be the one everyone comes too – just don’t hand out those expensive ones!
Snuggles! What better reason do you need for a hug than to warm your self up? My girls love it when we snuggle together on the sofa or in my bed watching TV, you could write down ideas of what you want to do when you eventually leave the house or make to do lists. Snuggles are the best!
