Can anyone else remember when they were little and September use to be hot! Making the most of the last days of summer use to mean playing outside in October before the leaves fell. I’m talking BBQ weather and playing outdoors on my birthday which is the 25th, Summers use to be so different.
This year I chose to take the girls away the first week of September knowing full well that all the other kids would be back to school and we would have the majority of Scarborough to ourselves. I booked us into the Blue Dolphin resort which is owned by Haven from Monday to Friday and hoped that the weather would play nice.
Thankfully for all the time we were away the weather was fine, we had one day when it was little rainy but we went bowling so no big issue. As we had invited my sister and her dog to come with us we took Quinn on a walk along the top of the resort, a cliff edge with a sheer drop to the sea below – my anxiety was doing somersaults!
Whilst wandering we discovered lots of bug houses so the girls loved peeking in to see if they could find any crawlies, of course there was nothing major inside but it did give the girls the incentive to create a bug hotel now we are home, we are going to work on it as part of a home education project.
The resort also had a warm up area which was simply logs to walk along and balance on which the girls enjoyed, it just goes to show though that they don’t need a lot of new fangled machines and technology, simply being out doors works wonders for their attitudes too!
Having just finished reading Dan Browns Origin about the revelation that technology will take over the human race in the next 50 years it makes me smile to see these pictures of the girls having fun without game systems and electronics – just pure old fashioned fresh air!
XOXO

I do remember last days of summer beingbin October, how things have changed.
Yes! I remember those days. We used to have sleepovers in the garden still. Gorgeous photos- and what a lovely place for an escape.
I can’t believe how amazing the weather has been for September the last few days – well done for making the most of the last days of summer looks like you’ve been having a lovely time.
We went to Blue Dolphin when my eldest was younger and she really enjoyed it too. Scarborough is lovely, hope you had a great week x
