All too often these days we are made to feel guilty if we let the little ones play with a piece of technology or gadgetry but I truly do believe that there are some good informative Apps and games out there so we shouldnt just dismiss handheld game systems or mobile phones.
Having said that I love to spend time with the kids getting crafty and hands on! The girls love nothing more than getting out the roll of paper (got to love a visit to Ikea for great kid crafts!), their poster paints and going wild with finger painting and generally covering everything in sight. This does of course take some build up and I have to be in the right frame of mind to even suggest getting the messy crafts out – the clean up is just too immense at times!
Another thing the girls love to do is bake! I am hoping they have inherited the baking bug (from me) and not just the fact they get to devour it all once made (from daddy), at the moment their favourite things to make are cakes they can make from scratch by themselves… crispie cakes, decorated marshmallow skewers etc. Decorating cupcakes is also another favourite part of baking and I think if you aren’t afraid of sugar and an abundance of colour toppings then this is definitely something great to let little ones loose on. Just remember to decorate your own cupcake unless you don’t mind bouncing off the walls for the rest of the day!
With the weather getting warmer we will be moving outdoors a lot more and with that comes the chance to get the girls involved in helping with the growing of veg and fruit etc. We saw a fabulous hanging strawberry planter the other day in Tesco of all places and they were only £4 so we will be trying our hand at strawberries this year – heaven knows we go through that many we need to at least make the effort to grow our own!
How do you keep your little ones entertained? Rattan Direct have created a survey to see how kids are spending their time, pop over and fill it in, it literally takes 2 minutes and would be a great help.
XOXO
Debbie
