“It is not true we have only one life to love, if we can read, we can live as many lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish.” ― S.I. Hayakawa
I have started Book Club 52 as a base for me to document the books I will read over the course of the next 12 months, 52 meaning the amount of books and of course that works out at 1 a week – so far so good with week 2 bringing about the end of The House of New Beginnings by Lucy Diamond.
Lucy is an author I have followed for a while now, having already read a couple of her books – The Year of Taking Chances and Beach Cafe. After those I kind of had a feeling I would like this one anyway so dived straight into it with gusto!
Title: The House of New Beginnings
Author: Lucy Diamond
Read: Via Kindle (£3.79, paperback £3.99)
Synopsis from Amazon:
One life-changing summer . . .
In an elegant Regency house near the Brighton seafront, three tenants have more in common than they know . . .
A shocking revelation has led Rosa to start over as a sous chef. The work is gruelling but it’s a distraction . . . until she comes up against the stroppy teenager next door who challenges her lifestyle choices. What if Rosa’s passion for food could lead her to more interesting places?
Having followed her childhood sweetheart down south, Georgie is busily carving out a new career in journalism. Throwing herself into the city’s delights is fun, but before she knows it she’s sliding headlong into all kinds of trouble . . .
Nursing a devastating loss, Charlotte just wants to keep her head down. But Margot, the glamorous older lady on the top floor, has other ideas. Like it or not, Charlotte must confront the outside world, and the possibilities it still holds.
As the women find each other, hope surfaces, friendships blossom and a whole new chapter unfolds for them all.
My Thoughts ****spoilers****
This was a true chicklit book and I loved the twists and turns of what if’s, its not very often that I get sucked in enough to laugh out loud and cry real tears of sadness too but this one had everything. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but have a box of tissues to hand!

I’m hoping to read a book a month this year – one a week is an impressive goal!
