Did you know you can grow your own cocktail?!
Well, minus the rum unless of course you are a pirate and make your own…
Growing your own herbs is an ideal way to have on hand everything you need in fresh form, not just for drinks but to make your own pesto and sauces through to healing and self medication.

I was sent a kit to grow my own basil garden and think this would be a perfect little windowsill project for not just me but the kids too to see how things grow and the care you need to take to look after them. They can use their basil for pizza but mine will be going in my all time favourite drink – mojito!
To grow your own basil mojito all you need to do is create your little basil pot on a windowsill, sew the seeds between April and June then harvest between July and October. With one sachet of seeds you will have enough basil to keep you in mojitos throughout winter! GBC Group have created this fabulous recipe for the perfect drink!
To make 1 mojito:
1 tsp brown sugar
1 lime (half juiced and half cut to wedges)
6-10 basil leaves
Soda water
25ml white rum
Place the sugar, rum, lime juice basil leaves and wedges into a tall sturdy glass and bash with a muddler or the back of a spoon.
Fill the glass with ice and top with soda water.
Garnish with gresh basil and a slice of lime.
Sit back and enjoy your creation!
Would you concider growing your own herbs so that you could have them to hand or are you a dried herb fan? Either way this would make a great gift for those who like something a little different!
XOXO
Debbie
