My favourite season is fast approaching and I could not be happier about it. As much as I love the heat of summer (when there is heat in the UK!) and the lazy days at the beach and pottering around in the garden, the whole of Autumn has my heart. From the pumpkin spice lattes to cozy snuggles under blankets, the masses of cushions to candlelit dinners followed by sticky puddings (those thick tights and chunky cardigans hide a multitude of sins!)

I thought I would share some of my ways to make your home both warmer and lighter for Autumn.
My number one tip would be to use mirrors to bounce candle light around the room, this creates the perfect atmosphere without having to overload on candles. I found the most amazing ornate Cox and Cox mirrors which are perfect for any room!

A good mantle always has a large mirror which is the focal point of a room, around this all of your autumnal theme decor can be placed. I keep an eye out all year round as you can pick up good pieces in sales and novelty stores.

I have seasonal decor that is switched around depending on the time of year, glass pumpkins, brass and orange cut crystal candle holders, brown spice and fired marshmallow scented candles. Autumn is all about warmth and glow so with the early and darker nights you need to create more lighting at home. This is where lots of candles and ambient lighting comes into play, a small table lamp in the corner of the room can create a cosy glow, candles placed on a fireplace hearth or coffee table create a beautiful warmth.

One of my favourite ways to make a room seem more Hygge is to add sheepskin into the mix, whether it be a rug or throw, there is something so comforting about sinking into the super soft sheepskin fur. I thought I found heaven in a cushion once but these beanbags are my new dream!

I would never move. Bring on my favourite season!
Which season is your favourite?
Why?
