Having moved home to the middle of no where we have realised a few things with regards to keeping the outside of our house tidy. The fence is falling over, the weeds need tackling and there are a few other jobs outdoors, so this summer we are going to make a list of things that need to be done to be in keeping with the house.
There is so much to do that we really need to create a to do list in order to work our way through it!
First on the list will be trying to get the fence upright! I don’t know if its the weather that has buckled it or just years of wear and tear but it has a serious lean going on, this is going to have to be rectified before it takes a tumble completely. The fence in itself is still in a decent condition so instead of replacing I think it just needs the supports sorting and bracing from inside.
The weeds are going to take some work, we went through a whole reel of strimmer cable last summer trying to get through them all and had to give up half way since the weather took a turn for the worse! I am hoping that the cold of winter will have killed some of them off and those that do remain will be easily removed. Either that or a blow torch and some weed killer might be called for – joke!! Having already worked on our previous home with regards to getting rid of a whole garden full of weeds I am sure we are prepared for what is ahead!
Another thing we have struggled with in the past is overgrown trees, I remember in our last home they were almost 3 times as tall as the house! Very scary come high winds and bad weather! Of course though this is a completely different thing to tackle on your own, especially without the proper equipment, ie chainsaws, tree felling wedge, breaking bar, chainsaw boots etc! This is something I would of course call the professionals in to do for us – the thoughts of me wielding a chainsaw is enough to scar hubby for life! lol
I am going to document how the garden comes along as the patio needs lifting and relaying too which wont cost anything but will be quite a job to do – it is just dangerous at the moment as it is completely uneven!
XOXO
Debbie
