…and I went big!
Having friends all over the world means that sometimes things align and you get to spend time with a precious soul. That is what happened in October with someone who I would never have met had it not been for online friendships.
So, flights booked, off I went!

9 days total in the States with 3 of those in a log cabin in the mountains. Never in my dreams would I have imagined doing this let alone spending 2 days wandering Washington alone!

This has really fueled my passion to get out there and see more of the world. Anxiety has held me back from doing so much for too long now. With no one to answer to anymore, life is for living and that’s exactly what I plan to do. My boys are all grown up now and the girls have the same lust for life and doing things as I do. They will love being able to see the world once we get going…the whole flight thing still freaks Evie out!

Anyway, back to my hols. So many memories that were made and to be honest I didn’t take the millions of pictures I thought I would. It was more a phone down kind of holiday. We spent a lot of time just being in the moment and talking, reading etc. Literally the quiet was exactly what I needed.

Of course, there were plenty of visits to shops, I really couldn’t go all the way to Rae Dunn heaven and not have a little splurge now could I!

Plus, all of the amazing food! I even tried grits and shrimp – best thing every but I have been told that all places don’t make it so good!

It was the last week in October too so I got to see the last of the Halloween decorations. Very impressed with the levels of commitment to it, all of the houses, stores and villages were knee deep in decor!

My favourite place, the cabin. Hot tub, bourbon and cigars on the deck. Of course the rocking chair and the quiet. Nothing else needed! (ok so i had gin instead of bourbon and snacks instead of cigars but still!)

Sitting reading a book with nothing but bird and squirrel sounds is going to be my go to vibe from now on.

The fact we couldn’t see anyone else, each path had its own section of the forest so we didn’t really even see any cars was just perfect. Secluded heaven at its finest!
