Maybe you’re aging noticeably, had some sort of traumatic skin reaction or just have bad skin. Maybe you want to look as good in real life, as you do in a selfie with a solid filter. Whatever your case is, you’re obviously in search of ways to rejuvenate and repair your skin, and I’m here to help.
Basically, there are three general options: over-the-counter products, professional skin treatments, or a dermatologist visit. Let’s start by going over some of the options available to you.

Store-bought Solutions
Over-the-counter products, also known as OTCs, are purchased at local pharmacies, grocery stores and the cosmetics counters of the major department stores.. OTCs don’t require a prescription of any kind, but are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These products include: cortisone, hydrocortisone, herbal supplements, dietary supplements, or medicated creams, cleansers and moisturizers.
Depending on how severe your skin condition is, most of what is sold over the counter is an effective form of treatment, and often corrects most skin issues, when used as directed, and as often as necessary.
Seek Help From a Skin Professional
Let’s assume you’ve tried going over the counter, and after several months of working your regimen consistently, using the best availble products on the market, but you’re still seeing “zero” changes in your skin. At this point, you may have to call in the big dogs, in this case being a professional in skincare, an esthetician.
People wonder how to go about finding an hiring an esthetician. Take it from me, you want to do your diligence, and find someone who is licensed, experiences and shares a similar skin type. All of these are qualifications will ensure you are getting the help you are seeking, and getting the most out of your money.
Estheticians can perform all services relative to the skin, including hair removals using a blade, threading, wax or chemical removals. They can also perform facial and full-body peels, waxings and other skincare needs. Their work is long-lasting, and may only require return visits after 3, 6 or sometimes even 9 months. They will be able to advise you on how to maintain your new skin in between visits.
When All Else Fails
If your skin condition requires medical grade help, then a dermatologist may be in order. Not only can they identify your problem using the proper medical definition, they can offer solutions or cures, and can probably tell you what caused the condtion. They can recommend whether or not a prescribed treatment is necessary, which will come in the form of a pill or cream, from a pharmacy.
Often times, dermatologists conduct skin tests, to determine if you are experiencing an allergic reaction to something, if it’s hereditary or if it’s serious. If you find that your skin is reddening or suffering from any sort of rash, and is quickly getting worse, you may want to skip the first two options, and go straight to a dermatologist as your first option. Otherwise, consider working up to this point.
Rejuvenating and repairing your skin is not a major task at all. Under the three general options umbrella, lies so many easy and affordable opportunities to getting to the best possible version of your skin. Be sue to weigh your options carefully, but most of all, have fun!
