I was recently commissioned by Mobility Plus to give my thoughts on the following topic.
There are a lot of things to consider when designing a new bathroom at any age. It is not all about grouting and pretty tiles, overhauling a bathroom is one of the largest expenses you will incur when you are working on your home.
It is also one of those once in a lifetime changes that you really don’t want to be having to redo a few years down the line. This is where planning comes into play. Planning for future eventualities is a necessity when it comes to design and layout of a home you intend on living in for many years.
I am a very busy 45 year old mum of little ones so rarely have time to lounge around in the bath and to be honest the girls absolutely love the quick in and out a shower offers. Next on our list of rooms to renovate is the bathroom and I have been thinking long and hard about fitting a walk in shower. Something that will suit us long term, especially as my back and hips give me issues during the cold weather and I know the chances of this easing as I get older is unlikely.
As our bathroom is really small it makes so much sense to remove the bath altogether and design the whole room around a walk in shower. This would also mean that when mum or my grandma come to stay they don’t have the issue of stepping in and out of a bath. I love the idea of a wet room as, to be honest, when the girls are in there during ‘bath-time’ the whole room is usually drowned in water anyway!

There are so many different options available, however I love the fact that if I can’t find something exactly to my liking they will help design my ideal solution. Tailoring any package to suit my individual needs, which fills me with more confidence about having a bathroom that will stand the test of time for years to come.
