Hopefully the weather will hold out this coming week, its certainly been sunny the past few days and hopefully the blue skies are set to continue. If you are looking for things to do then why not check out the following offerings of what to do in and around Durham.
From the 22nd of July until the 3rd of September Beamish Wild are holding their family camps for children age between 6 and 13. With options of 1, 2 or 3 days bookable in advance there is something for every little Wild one from den building to sports, mini olympics and treasure hunts. Something to keep little ones occupied all day from 8.45am to 3.30pm too so great to fit in around work or simply a day off from having to hear yet another cry of ‘watch how high i can bounce on the trampoline’ – this is my life!
Situated in the grounds of Beamish Hall hotel the summer camp days are best booked in advance, all bookings can be made through the website. For more information call 01207 233 733 ext 7.
While you are there:
Everyone loves Willy Wonka so why not treat you and yours to Afternoon Tea and movie at Beamish Hall Hotel on the 24th of August. We have almost survived all of the summer holidays so deserve a treat!
A special school holiday Afternoon at the Movies set in our baronial Shafto Hall. Enjoy a screening of the classic children’s film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with a delicious afternoon tea including some special Wonka-style treats.
Arrival 1.30pm £18.50 per adult / £15 child. To book call 01207 233733
Also on the 24th of August between 1.30 and 3 is a free event called Young Curators Taster Day. Young Curators is an exciting group for young people aged 11-16. Are you interested in finding out how museums put on exhibitions and what happens behind the scenes? Our Young Curators work alongside Cathedral staff and have unique opportunities to explore the new exhibition areas of Durham Cathedral.
You’ll learn how to handle and display objects, interpret the collections, work with local artists and help the Cathedral develop children’s activities. To see what Young Curators will be like, why not come along to one of our ‘Taster Days’?
This is a free event so booking is essential. Contact education@durhamcathedral.co.uk or call 0191 374 4070 to reserve a place.
What are you up to next week? Any plans for a staycation or are you jetting off somewhere exotic?
XOXO
Debbie
I love the idea of a Willy Wonker Afternoon Tea. We are an outdoorsy family, so would love doing den building.
