Having a horse mad daughter means that we are totally obsessed at the moment with Spirit Riding Free, an animated series from Dreamworks about a young girl named Lucky and a wild horse she befriends, Spirit.
This past week has been awful here as we have all been hit by a dreadful bug that has literally knocked us all off our feet. The girls have never left their beds and I actually did wonder if we would see daylight again so when we were lucky enough to be chosen to review this new range of toys, released by Flair, in collaboration with the new TV series I knew it would lift their Spirits! (See what I did there?!)
We received the Spirit Classic Horse & Stable set, Sounds & Action Spirit, Lucky & Spirit and two Spirit Blind box assortments and for a horse crazy almost 9 year old this was a box of dreams!
The Home and Stable set is a great carry around piece that Evie has taken everywhere with her, the fact it has a handle at the top which is part of the stable roof means that it is perfect for little hands. The stable side wall opens to create a large play area and contains the horse, hay, shovel, rake, saddle, bridle, brush, tack box, and sticker sheet. The horse comes with beautiful rooted hair which makes it interactive, Evie loves plaiting the hair and brushing it so its good to have something other to do with it.
The Spirit Small Doll and Classic Horse are the perfect combo, Lucky has poseable arms and legs for so that she can pet and ride Spirit who in turn has a thick mane which I imagine loves to be brushed! Promoting nurturing play is a huge thing especially as the girls are home schooled and have to take their lead from me and whatever I do. These are both a great size for small hands and there is also the collectability in that there are 3 sets available – Lucky and Spirit, Abigail and Boomerang, and Prudence and Chica Linda. I can definitely see Evie wanting all 3 sets!
The final large piece is the Classic Sounds and Action Spirit. Spirit features realistic horse sounds and movement! The button on his back with make him stamp his front leg and give off a horsey neigh, likewise if you pet his muzzle he will respond to your touch. Spirit can also be posed to rear up on his hind legs! Again this version of Spirit has a rooted mane which is perfect for interactive play and brushing.
The girls both love blind bags, the ones where you don’t know what you are buying, a little something wrapped in a bag which is a total surprise until you open it. We love that you get a little blind box with Spirit goodies! Each comes packaged in a barn shaped box and you get a realistic horse enclosed, there are 8 to collect and priced at only £4.99 each these are definitely pocket money toys that the girls are going to be asking for each week.
All are available to buy from Amazon or Smyths.
