Your wedding day is probably one of the biggest in your life and certainly the most expensive! Did you know the average wedding is set to cost an average of £32,000 by the year 2028… just a heads up that if you are wanting to do it maybe don’t put it off!
During the prep for the big day I found that the most care and consideration went into the venue, flowers and wedding dress, yes these things are super important for the day but should you be thinking longer term. The one thing that is going to stay with you hopefully through life is the ring! The little band of gold, silver or platinum that is slipped onto your finger towards the end of the ceremony – the one piece you will carry on you forever.
When we were married we opted for a simple gold band with white gold engraving around the outside for the both rings. I was totally fascinated with how many options are out there and they aren’t all super expensive diamond encrusted showstoppers either. I love the plain and simple bands like these from F Hinds – something that will stand the test of time and is completely understated.
We both chose our rings together and I wanted to find out how some of my blogging friends chose theirs, did they opt for a joint decision on the design or was it completely one sided. The idea of being surprised with my wedding ring both excites me but scares me at the same time as I would hate to think I was given something I didn’t like!
My husband will not wear rings so I just picked my own. He picked the engagement ring and did a good job though! Danielle from Someonesmum
We chose it together, I wouldn’t want it any other way. It is such an important and expensive item, I can’t imagine him doing it without me anyway. Also it is super exciting and romantic going together. Clare from Freddiesmummyuk
We chose our wedding bands together it was a lovely day we had champagne and it made everything feel real! Sophie from Sophobsessed
Ours were custom made but we went together. They’re different metals but both have our wedding date engraved inside. Kim from The Blog Genie
We chose our wedding rings on our own but knew what the other was having. My husband designed his own and has the Fibonacci sequence engraved onto it. I love how unique his ring is and that it was something he actually decided on for the wedding! Emma from Even Angels Fall
It was a surprise and he chose correctly which was a relief, just not the right size. Victoria from The Growing Mum
We went to choose ours together as we wanted them to match each other and fit in with my engagement ring. Funnily enough his cost more than mine! Rebecca from Becster.com
We had ours made at my favourite jewellers in my German hometown (we also had my nan and grandads weddings rings melted to use) my engagement ring has a unique shape so I had it fitted around it. My husbands design is 2 different golds and totally different to mine they do not match but he loves his and that’s what counts! AK from The German Wife
Ours were custom made and we designed them together although they are both completely different designs. Debbie from My Chaotically Eclectic Life
I love how everyone is different and there is no one answer. Thank you lovelies for sharing your wedding ring diaries with me.
XOXO
