We have a small box room that is not being used at the moment so my thoughts are to turn it from a bedroom into a light room/studio for photography, both for the blog and future books. The lighting in there is available all day so it is in the perfect position and with the addition of my two big studio lights it would make an incredible space for flat lays and promo work.
My plan is to strip the whole room down and start from scratch including whitening the ceiling and placing a daylight bulb in place to give maximum brightness. The walls are currently dark blue on two walls and dark paper on the other two, this will be stripped and replaced with white on the window where the wall is to help reflect the lighting. The other 3 walls are going to be papered but in brick, wood and graffiti effect wallpaper, this means that I will have plenty of choice for backdrops.
I have always used I Love Wallpaper as their prices are amazing and I would only need one roll of each so a whole room for less than £30!
Amelia is a great little Instagram star and loves posing so this would make a stunning backdrop for clothing posts and toy reviews etc. She actually chose this one and I love the bright colours in it – set against the bright white of the flooring I think this would look amazing!
I was considering herringbone parquet flooring as it’s so popular at the minute, but after a lot of consideration I decided to go with laminate flooring and the best backdrop for both lighting and flat lay photographs would be white wood effect. I’m not sure if I’m confident enough to lay it myself but as its only a box room I think keeping costs down and because its just a simple small square I would give it a go!
After pricing everything up on Direct Wood Flooring it comes to just under £70 which is a lot cheaper than it would be for carpet and means that I would have the perfect flat lay backgrounds too. I have a couple of the gorgeous faux marble and barn door set ups from the lovely Capture by Lucy so add these to the studio and I have a great little set up which makes me very excited to take my photography to the next level.
What would your workspace look like? Ideally I would love to have room to set up the sewing machine and a mini faux display kitchen too but that will have to wait until I win the lottery! lol
XOXO
