We have had so much fun this year testing games and reviewing items from lovely companies that value the opinions of real people. Thankfully we are a real ‘home body’ family and love nothing more than settling down on a night with some great games and spending time with one another.
I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to showcase our top 10 games just in time for Christmas so that if you are struggling with pressies for your little ones we may be able to help a little.
Coming in at number 10 is Dobble, a tinned card game that can involve the whole family. There are lots of different games to play and our favourite was matching the symbols fastest to each others cards. Amelia could play this one too as it was image based and the game is yours as long as you are quick! rrp: £12.99
Number 9 is Catch A Roo. A simple game that involves swapping and collecting all of the coloured kangaroos. Play a card to catch a roo from either the main pile or an opponent – winner is who ends up with most roos! Simple! rrp: £8.99
Number 8 is Creepy Hand – If you love truth or dare you will love this game, walking around in circles just like the hand from Adams family this Creepy Hand points at who is next to face the truth or dare questions. We thought this was great for older children but not so good for the little ones – I can imagine it being fun at an adult party once a couple of drinks have been had! rrp: £16.99
Number 7 is Funny Bunny, a cute game where you need to make it to the top of the rabbit hill without getting nudged off by the badger, dropped underground through trap doors and thrown across the room on the drawbridge. The girls love this one as it was easily played by all ages and even Amelia could join in fully without too much help from anyone else. rrp: £19.99 (currently less than £10 on Amazon!)
Number 6 is toilet humour with Beat The Flush. For so long we stayed away from toilet humour and Evie being the princess she is, when games like this popped up on tv she would turn up her nose! From the first time trying this game there was hilarity all round, the girls were in fits of giggles at being squirted with water – especially toilet water! rrp: £24.99
Scaring the life out of us at number 5 is Boom Blast Stix, we weren’t sure what to expect with this and to be honest when you open it you are presented with lots of pieces of plastic and not much else. We read the instructions and still were not prepared for what was to come. This turned out to be a fabulous game of surprise that keeps you on your toes from start to finish – i swear we still haven’t found some of the pieces they fly so far! rrp: £17.99
Number 4 is a frosty Igloo Mania. This was one of the girls favourites, Amelia loves setting it up and as she is learning numbers at nursery she takes joy in collecting the corresponding blocks for each layer. It can of course be over in the matter of minutes depending on which block you pull out but that is half the fun and I remember playing games like this when I was little! rrp: £20 (Currently £10 on Amazon)
Number 3 is the age old classic of Scalextric – although technically not a board game it is one of the ones that the kids request out on a regular basis and the fact the two of the girls can play together for a while without arguments is a bonus! rrp: £29.99
More toilet humour at number 2 with Woofy Whoops. I adore Amelias face in this video, the girls soon got use to getting wet and ended up completely undressed and covered in towels! haha We have even bought this for my nephew after we took it there on a visit and had so much fun! You pat the dog and have to be careful incase he goes Whoops on you! Ewww! rrp: £19.99
AND NUMBER ONE IS DISNEY EYE FOUND IT! Top of our list for this years games is Disney Eye Found It, we have wanted this for a long time and the girls were not dissapointed. With a board over 6ft long and thousands of images to scour against the clock this is a game that we keep playing over and over! Highly recommended! rrp: £24.99
I hope that may have answered a few of the questions over what games to buy this year. What is top of your list for 2017?
XOXO
Debbie
