The last couple of days have passed in a blur of school and hospital appointments so Mondays with Little Miss was postponed until today!
A couple of years ago I opened a little shop upstairs in City Attic selling my shabby chic bits and pieces, the shop was owned by a lovely friend, Hayley, and I loved going in there every day to see what new goodies she had. The shop was there for a few years before I even took up residence and every time I passed I couldn’t help but pop in for my fix of pretties!
Now though it has transformed into a coffee shop named Caffeine Brothers and we popped in for the first time today. It is really clean, fresh and quite relaxed inside with sofas and comfortable seating areas alongside the tall window seating area which to be honest doesn’t exactly look out onto a terrific view. (Subway and Iceland but that is fine as I did some window shopping and menu planning while drinking my coffee!)
We ordered a soya latte and hot chocolate to drink with a toffee crunch cake, gluten free brownie and double chocolate chip cookie to eat inside. The total was just over £10 so not too pricey and since it was relatively empty there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere too!
Since we often come shopping after dropping the kids off at school I did notice the sign on the table saying £3.95 for a bacon or sausage sandwich & large coffee for £3.95 which is an excellent deal for the centre of Durham so we will no doubt be taking them up on that offer at some point!
Service was quick and the coffee/hot chocolate were piping hot so we will most definitely be back and hope this coffee shop is here for the long haul!
The shop is on North Street which, although has the bus station at the top, is lacking in decent stores and really needs a complete overhaul. Honestly this street could be a thriving part of Durham city if some cash was injected and some of the empty shops filled!
XOXO

What a nice little find! And that cake look utterly yummy ? Love finding new coffee places to while away the hours working and it sounds like you found a keeper.
Thanks for sharing!

Well I do love a good coffee 🙂 lovely to get one on one time with the kids as well isn’t it.
I always get a hot choc and a brownie when I go to places like this. It sounds really nice
