If you are anything like me you will have been glued to the food channel every time Man V Food came on just to see the sheer amount that Adam Richman could pack away! Living vicariously through him heading down route 66 and calling at all of those little stop offs to enjoy what can only be described as monsterous portions I felt a little bit of escapism each time!
You can only imagine my excitement when an invitation landed in my inbox to head to the pre launch night of the new Man Vs Food Grill House in Middlesbrough! Armed with my little sister we decided to go all out and went in with a preconceived idea of what to expect.
Situated at 300 Linthorpe Rd, Middlesbrough TS1 3QU and rather impressive from the outside, Man Vs Food is even more so inside, the whole place has an American diner style feel to it with rustic tables, custom neon lights and the smell of charred meat drifting from the kitchens.
As always on a night without the children I decided to opt for my usual mojito, it was icy cold and the perfect start to the night. As we sat looking through the menu we were approached by staff to explain about Man Vs Food, which branches they have, what they recommend etc. The staff were flawless all night and very attentive – it made us feel very welcome and we will definitely be back for the hospitality alone!
After deciding to make the most of our night we chose starters of chicken nachos and chicken wings. OH My Word! The nachos were so thick and more of a biscuit than crisp which balanced perfectly against the mass of melted cheese, salsa and guacamole! My chicken wings were coated in a southern style spice and were amazing! Very moorish and more than enough to share for starter!
Our mains were of epic proportions and can only be described as plates of meat!
There was so. much. food. Having visited a similar establishment in the heart of Newcastle and paid almost the same price I can only say that there was around 3 times more on my plate at Man Vs Food – I got meat sweats! Lisa chose the half parmo – yes that is a half portion!!
Having given up half way through for fear of bursting we were informed that any left over food can be parcelled and taken home – yayy! As if seeing the look of defeat on our face wasn’t enough the staff said we simply couldn’t leave without sampling the dessert menu! After a little chat and the realisation that we were indeed on the verge of not being able to walk back to the car they said we should at least take desserts home with us! Who am I to decline such an invitation!
With so many options of cheesecake and topped waffles we took some pictures in situ of the desserts and went with the banoffee waffle and Snickers cake – the cakes alone are similar to store bought 4 portion size cakes and the waffle was enough for 4 of us too at home!
We had an amazing night and will most definitely be back for more, next time though I may just opt for starter….or main….or dessert…just maybe not all 3 at once again!
XOXO
Debbie
