Far too many years have passed for me to still be counting the years but right now I know that my birthday is less than 2 weeks away (OK, I.m going to be 44!)
I tend not to make too much of a fuss and gave up on parties years ago, aiming for those big numbers seems less exciting when you’re over 30. This year I am going to be away the weekend before my birthday and also a day or so after I am staying in a hotel alone so I think an extension of birthday celebrations might be in order!
What I want to do this year is have a girly night out with goody bags and lots of alcohol, pretty flowers and somewhere beautiful for a meal or drinks to catch up over. We are all huge fans of gin so maybe even a gin tasting session or visit to a distillery would work really well and be something we could all enjoy too, whilst finding out new flavours etc at the same time – that is always a good thing!
I love the idea of having a mini Gin festival at home where we can eat cake and lounge around in our pj’s too – that sounds so much more appealing when I think about it! Of course it could work out really expensive if I had to buy all of the bottles of gin for the tasting session which is why when searching online I was excited to come across a site that is dedicated to selling just miniatures of many different kinds. I think this would work out so well as it means that everyone gets their own little bottles to try and even take home depending how many we get through.
This would work well for stocking fillers too – I know I would rather fish mini bottles of alcohol out of my Christmas stocking than a tangerine and slinky! Just saying!
Having recently discovered the joys of rhubarb and ginger gin, pomegranate and rose among others it has given me the taste of what is out there and I think a tasting session is in order so that I know what to get in for Christmas.
