The turn in weather and leaves falling from the trees brings about a whole new lease of life in my little ones, for some reason they much prefer being out and about now rather than when its sunny. Whether its because they get too hot in the summer or its just too bright for them I am not sure but Autumn is when we crack out the lists of outdoor things to do.
Leaf painting:
We love going on walks and collecting all of the different kinds of leaves, the colours are incredible and with a couple of little tester pots of paint you can create some masterpieces to hang all year round. This year we are going to make a lemon and grey picture to go on our staircase to celebrate our first Autumn in our new house.
Conker collecting:
Once you find a good conker ground guard it with your life – kids love the conkers and will come from miles around once they know its there! The bigger the conker the better to play with too – I can remember being at school and having competitions with them hung on string, there were a few sore fingers but if your conker broke last you were the winner!
Pumpkin picking:
This is something we have kept meaning to do but put off each year, I think i have built it up so much I am worried of being disappointed once we get there! lol I imaging hoards of pumpkins all piled up like you see in American photos so to have a sparse garden with a couple of the tasty autumnal treats would be gutting!
Bike riding/Scooter:
We love getting out and about on the bikes and scooters and I am thinking of getting myself a bike so that we can go on even better treks in the forest etc. We have the YippieYo too which is great for taking the kids out when they want a walk but cant be bothered to go far – this means i can pop them in there and carry on walking without the moaning!
Of course with all of these bikes, scooters, and YippieYo etc come the problems of having somewhere to keep them in winter. Our house is way too small to have everything kept indoors so a garage or a garden building like the prefabricated garages from Lidget Compton are the ideal place to protect against weather damage and keep everything in tip top shape ready for spring!
We have more than enough space outside to have an additional building to house everything so i think this might be the ideal solution to the issues we have!
Have a great Autumn and happy (conker) hunting!
XOXO
Debbie
