Thankfully I have little ones who are a touch obsessed with fruit and veg so getting them to eat the real thing has never been much of an issue for me. They do all seem to go through the phase though of ‘no, don’t like that’ unless it has a picture of their latest cartoon favourite emblazoned across the packaging etc.
One way I found to get the kids to eat fruit and veg again was to add those sticky googly eyes, you will have seen the memes where whole fridges are filled with sticky eyes so that when you open the door you do nothing but giggle at the hoard of eyeballs glaring at you! Googly eyes make everything seem immediately funnier and more appealing which is why, when we were approached by Googly Fruit Organic towards the end of last year I knew the kids would see the funny side straight away.
Amelia loves doing more than one thing at a time too which usually ends up in an orange mess as most kids snacks have that much colouring and additives that it ends up all over their clothes etc too – not this time!
The snack flavours have been carefully formulated so that they are appealing to young pallets, and the size of the individual pieces are ideal for small hands and teeth. Growing up we had the Garden Gang books which brought veggies etc to life and I was pleased to see that the ingredients used all have names too – Bob Banana, Carl Carrot, Susie Strawberry etc which helps small ones connect more with the ‘characters’. Amelia loved the fact they weren’t your typical tubes or balls! The Crunchy Puffs (Strawberry and Banana) were hearts which she adored!
The flavours are not at all overpowering unlike a lot of kids snacks which meant that I felt a lot better about handing these out than a bag of cheesy puffs etc! The Googly Fruit squeezy fruity snack pouches are really practical, on-the-go snacks too – these were great over Christmas with Milo visiting as it meant we could just give him the pack to help himself!
Googly Fruit also have a dedicated website where you can download a whole host of activities including printable colour-me-in sheets, spot the difference pages and Mission Googly Eyes (check out the website to see what that one is about!) Head over to GooglyFruit to find out more.
The Googly Fruit range is available from Ocado, Superdrug, health stores and independent retailers.
