Not sure whats happening but there is a big ball in the sky that we very seldom see and it puts me in the mood for some garden prep! The thought of sitting outside and sharing a glass of wine with friends and a BBQ with family gives me the motivation to get get the groundwork in order so that if the sun stays we can make the most of it!
There is so much choice when it comes to how you style your garden, I for one am a low maintenance, keep work to a minimum but make it look as pretty as possible. Colours are a huge factor, textures again play a huge part in my style of garden, heights of plants, trellis fencing to grow plants upwards and even a pagoda to sit under which is draped in wisteria and ivy!
A seating area is another huge issue, do you go decking, concrete or stick with grass or gravel – with grass there are the obvious issues of dampness if the weather turns bad, decking can sometimes become slippy when wet too, concrete can look dull and lifeless so gravel is my go to option. Pathways to and from the seating area should also be considered and I am sure I am not the only one who didn’t know that resin can come in all different colours for outdoor paths. I think a bright yellow pathway would be amazing and look fabulous brightening up an other wise dull garden, imagine the pop of lavender flowers and tulips etc against the bright colours available! If I ask my girls though I just know they would love to have a rainbow path, that would look amazing even on the rainiest of days and certainly add a splash of colour to any garden!
Don’t forget the fences too – would you ever paint yours? I love it when I see Mediteranean homes with brightly coloured walls and garden boundries, lots of decor and plant pots fastened to them with plenty of hanging plants and fake creatures climbing the walls. I think we need to take a tip out of their books and liven up the outdoors as much as we do inside – the sun might just be here to stay a little longer!
