Why haven’t I heard about this before and where was all the advertising!
If it wasn’t for the fact I’m part of the North East Foodie bloggers I wouldn’t have had a clue this was on and its in my HOME TOWN! Please pop up more adverts or banners in and around Durham – it would be a shame to miss this!
The Full Moon Market was held last night between 4 pm -9 pm and boasted some of the most delicious foods the region has to offer. The vendors included…
The Asian Project
Papa Ganoush
Fat Hippo
Doughnut guy
I.K Fish
La Petite Creperie
Tandoori Naan Hut
Earth And Fire Pizza
Smokie Dokie
Hani’s Kitchen
Green Guerrilla
Coffee Supreme
Music by:
Courtney Hadwin (award winning)
Simon Wood Percussionist
Andrew and Jack Acoustic Duo
The Brass Ensemble
The Sax spin-off
There was live music in the form of a young girl singing who I presume was Courney Hadwin (knockout voice!!) and a gentleman on steel drums, live music was planned for later but with little ones we didn’t stay too long. I think next time I may venture back into town on my own and stay for a while longer, it will be nice to experience the market place during what I can imagine would be a lively night.
After arriving around 4.30 we were surprised to find the market place quite empty which meant I got a chance to have a wander around and speak to a few of the stall holders. Having 5 of our 6 children in tow too meant that we got to try a few of the stalls, much to everyone’s delight!
We managed to fill our faces with goodies from The Doughnut Guy, Hani’s Kitchen, Fat Hippo, Earth & Fire Pizza and if I had realised The Asian Project had Pad Thai I would have been on that one too!! (…only found out this while reading Canny Food blog – we must have passed each other last night!)
The foods were amazing and mostly were between £4 and £5 per portion. We are all really looking forward to the next street food market which is to be held on the 19th April. Well worth a pop into the centre of Durham if you love authentic flavours and freshly made foods!

We have an organic farmers market near me, it is great but not ethnic inspired like this one. Wish I lived near you now, I do love trying new foods..
This looks insanely yummy Debs, and has made me so hungry! The sea food looks delicious, and those donuts! Looks like a great evening.

This is a bit far for us but it looks fantastic and I know my husband would LOVE it! You are right, people need to shout about fantastic markets like this.
We love going up to Durham as my husband used to live there. May have to pop up before the end of the school holidays for this.
Looks like a really good evening! Them doughnuts look incredible, wish there was something like this near me
