Keep the kids busy!
I always seem to struggle when the holidays come around…it’s not as if we didn’t know they were coming, they didn’t just sneak up! Planning is paramount when you have children otherwise there is shouts and crying and screams of I’M BBOOORRREEDD MUUUUM!!
This week I have planned a few things to make with the help of Evie and Amelia – the boys will be out with their friends, they are getting older so don’t see the appeal of helping mummy bake or make anymore! Thankfully the girls love it so this is what we have planned this week…
We are going to make some of the super easy Playdough – click on the link to take you to the post on how to make this, I promise it is so easy that Evie made it 2 years ago, I supervised and dealt with the hot water part but the rest was all her!
Next up I have promised we can make Easy Chocolate Fudge This is so simple to make and the kids love to decorate it with pieces of fudge, silver balls…any toppings you have in the cupboard which also makes it a good excuse to finish any of those ‘almost done’ containers!
Since we moved and Evie has her own room she has been asking for a girlie wreath for her door. I have this tutorial here – Rag wreath – which we will be making since it is so easy and all I will need to do is cut the strips of fabric ready for Evie to fasten and ‘make’ herself.
We made these a few years ago now and what with the tree bark not being treated it soon rotted and was thrown away. Spring Time noughts & Crosses This time we are making a set for indoors from one of the bark blanks that my sister used at her wedding! We thought it would be a perfect setting and keepsake for a new set and we will be making my sister a set too as a little thank you present for giving us the blanks to use! I am thinking butterflies and caterpillars! You can pick these up at local timber merchants for a couple of pound, grab some rocks from the beach and your’re set!
I will admit I am a huge ‘storage’ fan and constantly frustrate hubby by not wanting to throw things away…’ooh they will come in handy for ..erm …yeah one day’ haha This week we will be making some of the Jar Storage containers as I have lots of cooking utensils and make up brushes that I think will look cute stored within! I am thinking plain hessian string and maybe some lace for the make up and then plain string with a little wooden hanging tag for the utensils!
If we have time we will also be making a couple of the little Star books from this Star book Tutorial for both sets of Nanas – photos of the grandkids are long over due so we are going to try and make some little brag books to hand out next time we see them 🙂
