If you are a regular reader you will know I have spoken about the girls hair before and the joy I get from putting their hair up in plaits and pigtails etc. We were recently offered the chance to try the new Easy Braid system which actually plaits hair in 3 strands. This system allows the girls to plait their own hair too which is something they have both shown an interest in but obviously struggle with due to small hands and lots of hair!
When you have girls they become obsessed with things to put in their hair, we have tried numerous ‘toys’ before that simply twirl two strands of hair together…of course this means a simply un-twirl and all your work is undone.
With Easy Braids you have a piece to help section the hair into 3 strands and hold it in place before you slot them into the tubes ready for braiding, this works in two ways, helping to get the right amount of hair in each strand and also freeing up your hands to load the hair into the braid machine.
3 hooks are inserted into the handset and you simply hook a strand into each and pull it through, then it is simply a case of easing back on the trigger and finding a speed that you are comfortable with. This took a couple of attempts as you need to work your way down the hair as it braids otherwise it looks clumpy. We found that slightly damp hair was easier to work with too as it held the shape better and we had less fly away hairs to get caught.
Amelia opted for a single braid on each side of her head while Evie wanted a complete head full! She even slept in them like this and never complained once, her hair was beautiful and wavy too once it they were taken out due to putting the braids in while her hair was still damp.
As you get more practice in with Easy Braids you can incorporate ribbons into the braids too, there are little elastics and beads to finish off each of your creations too!
I love this little boomerang we took of Evie doing her own braids – it really is that easy and look how flawless it looks too!
