If there is one thing I love to do it is finding pieces for our home that no one else has, something that makes a person stop and say ‘oooh’, something you can look at time and time again and never get bored of. I think this is why I love UncommonGoods so much!
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, UncommonGoods is a privately-owned retailer that endeavors to feature unique jewelry, designer décor, tabletop items, and handcrafted gifts created in harmony with the environment without harm to animals or people.
I have touched before on the fact that we live in a rented home so we are limited with what we can do to the house, the main way we can stamp our personality on the outside of our home is by adding personal touches such as custom doormats or garden gifts that display our name or a quote from our favourite author etc.
We have a running joke that with 6 children running riot we can’t have nice things so this doormat sums up how I think everyone with kids feels! lol
We have fallen in love with this family sign too – how cute is this! There is something a little Alice in Wonderland about it and I can just imagine it having directions to Nanas and Bens homes.
Most of the jewelry products, home décor and table top items they carry are created in the USA, and about one-third of our entire collection incorporates recycled and/or upcycled materials. At the core of our company is a great respect for the integrity of the creative individual and the belief that it is our responsibility to use our business to impact the world in a positive way.
As well as novelty and personalised items I love practical gifts and this rock is something I can see using all the time! Scott is terrible for leaving the house and forgetting his key, waking us at all hours to be let back in. Something like this would mean we can rest assured he doesn’t get stuck anymore…and we can have a full night sleep!
Being the owner of a small business I love the whole ethos behind UncommonGoods, this statement speaks volumes and more companies should take up this stance!
As we enter a new age of business, we’ll remain focused on our commitment to sustainability and creative design. We’ll never stop working to provide a remarkable shopping experience to our customers, make our company our team members’ favorite place to work, celebrate craftsmanship and innovation, and support our community of artisans, designers, and creative thinkers. We have a feeling the future will be uncommonly good.
Do you love the personalised touch of buying from craftsmen and artists? What is your favourite piece you have bought from a small business?
XOXO
Debbie

I’ve not heard of this company before, but it looks like they have such unique products!
I do love a piece that no one has but since my girl came along there is just no time to work on home decor which I absolutely love!
Haha that door mat is brilliant! I definitely have one of those at my door! xxx
I so need that doormat, it is brilliant. Off to look at the website now
