I seem to have found my creative vibe again and this week we have made playdough, slime, painted our hearts out and I am itching to get out the papers to play with, a little scrapbooking or even sewing maybe!
Carrying on with the Kitchen/Craftroom series brings us the fabulous Kerry over at
Tell us a little about you and your blog.
I’m Kerry and I blog at Blissful Domestication. I live with my partner James and our two children Isla and Oliver, and I also have a stepdaughter Jasmine. We share our home with our new puppy Berry and old Siamese cat Ripley. My blog started as an outlet for my creative side, somewhere I could showcase my crazy craft ideas and food inventions. Now though I focus more on encouraging creativity and imagination in children, so spend a lot of time crafting, baking, gardening with my kids as well as going on family adventures.
Have you always crafted or is it something you started when blogging – which came first?
I have always been quite creative but never really had an outlet. I got into pottery and painting pottery about 6 years ago when I was on maternity leave and invested in a kiln. I unfortunately had to disconnect the kiln 4 years ago when we started house renovations and it’s not been reconnected since. James has promised that this year he will build me a new craft room outside, so hopefully soon it will be back up and running. The blog started 2 years ago, and now I spend most of my spare time crafting with the kids.
If you had an entire day to yourself what would you make?
It would have to be something in clay! I’ve been wanting to make the kids ceramic name plaques for their doors for ages, so I suppose it would be something like that. (providing my kiln was up and running!). However, I have many other unfinished craft projects to do, so just to have a whole day to myself to finish those would be amazing. For the kids it would have to be card, glue and glitter! (you can never have too much sparkle)
What is your most prized make?
My most prized make is Ceramic Piggy banks I made for Isla and Oliver when they were babies. Hopefully the kids will treasure them too.
Do you sell any of your makes or are they purely for you?
No I don’t. Hopefully if I get my craft room as promised this year, then the plan is to set up an Etsy shop for some of my creations.
Who is your crafting icon?
Kirstie Alsop. I love all her programs and love that she tries her hand at anything. A bit like me really. I keep saying I want to do a completely homemade Christmas, but it hasn’t happened yet, but I’ll keep watching her Christmas programs to give me inspiration for when I finally do!
