We are a co sleeping family, always have been since day one of our eldest boy and he is now 20 with a child of his own!
That of course doesn’t mean that there is no routine at bedtime. I am going to share with you Amelias bedtime routine now that we are finally in the transition of moving our last baby girl into a bed of her own.
First up is bathtime.
All of the kids have loved the bath and Evie even says she would love to be a mermaid one day so you can bet that each night in the bath we have ‘swimming’ competitions, splashing around and make believe soap sud worlds where fountains of water spray from empty bottles and mummy is drenched!
Every. Single. Time!
As the girls have sensitive skin we always use the gentlest and most natural products in the bath, irritations are no ones best friend come night time! Which of course means that we have to be super careful with what goes on their skin once out of the bath too. Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment is free from fragrance, preservatives, colours and antiseptics, meaning it can be used at every bedtime nappy change to protect from the causes of nappy rash whilst being kind and gentle to the skin too!
I love the fact it forms a transparent barrier between Amelias skin and her wet nappy, we have suffered from nappy rash in the past due to inferior barrier creams and now we wouldn’t go back!
To show how water tight Bepanthen is I popped a little onto the back of my hand and smoothed it into the skin. As you can see, when I poured water over my hand it simply glided off leaving the barrier cream in place and my skin as soft and protected as ever!
Back to Amelias routine! Once she is dried, creamed up and dressed for bed we read her a bedtime story (Her favourite at the minute is either Princess Stay Awake or The Big Red Bath), more often than not she will have a Peppa Pig DVD too before snuggling down falling asleep!
I would love to say this is the end of her bedtime routine and we all go to sleep and wake up the next morning filled with the joys of a full night sleep ….. sadly she usually lasts around 1 hour in her own bed and then comes stomping into ours! Laying between hubby and myself at least I know we will then get that full night sleep as she isn’t going to wake during the night due to nappy rash!

Great to hear how you got on and some lovely pics. Commenting for myself and on behalf of BritMums and thanking you for taking part.
Very similar routine but my we’ve never co slept apart from when ill and that worked for us. Life would be boring if we all did the same
I am always so intrigued as to how other people do their bedtime routine. Storytime before bed is always our family time!
