Education should be fun and the best part about home schooling is that we get to try out a lot of new products and discover ways to make learning part of our everyday routine.
We were recently sent the Beaker Creatures Liquid Reactor Super Lab from Learning Resources, a fabulous website that provides learning equipment and information for children of all ages.
The super lab contains 2 beakers, a pair of pliers, stirring stick, 2 creature eggs, cards and information sheets and of course the lab itself, which is super easy to put together by clicking pieces into place and attaching the plastic tubing for water flow.
There are a few different experiments you can create but this first one we tried was the actual Beaker Creatures, releasing them from their eggs by filling the chamber with water and watching it fizz. I love the fact you get to act as though it is a real experiment, Amelia got to hold the egg with the special pliers and lower it into the chamber.
Having filled the beakers with water you then remove the syringes from the lab and fill up with water before locking back into place on the lab base.
When the syringes are pushed down it releases the water into the main chamber creating a reaction with the bicarbonate egg, causing it to to fizz and bubble. The girls loved watching the reaction and gauging how much water to add so as to not make it over flow etc.
Of course patience is a virtue and one my children lack so thankfully the stirring stick came in handy to prod and poke the egg into releasing the creature, which is enclosed in a little mini pod to keep it dry.
Again with the pliers to lift of the pod out of the chamber, meaning that the kids don’t get the bicarb liquid on their hands and stay mess free.
With 35 Creatures to collect from five different planets, including five rare 24-carat Creatures, children will build an out-of-this-world collection! Beaker Creatures combine the amazement of learning through science with the anticipation of surprise collectibles!
The super lab is available to buy from Learning Rescources £25 and the creature eggs start from £4.00.
