10 things that really get my goat!!
See how many you agree with and tell me at the end!! haha
Noisy eaters!
It took me a long time to realise that wanting to strangle someone who was eating in my ear was actually a condition and not just my overwhelming urge to beat some manners into them! Misophonia is an condition where noise, generally background noise, tapping a pencil, clicking something repetitively, chewing etc become unbearable! I have literally had to walk out of the room before throwing something and have been known to walk miles when I’ve had to get off a bus instead of causing a scene! Its not good and not intentional but that sound just drives me up the wall to the point I swear I could flip!
In a minute!
When you ask for something to be done and you get the reply…In a minute! Only its not in a minute so you ask again and get the same reply…..sorry but please just say give me 5 or give me 10 minutes…don’t make me think you are about to do something if you have no intention of doing it IN A MINUTE!
Not saying please/thank you
GRRRRRrrr! Manners cost nothing and I like to think I am polite and have always taught the children to say their pleases and thank yous. Even to us in the home, I still make the children say please and thank you if we or one of their siblings passes/gives them something and vice versa! Holding doors open for people is something I was taught to do as its common curtesy, so when a grown adult walks through and blanks you I want to put them back through the door and shut it on them! Watch this video and tell me you don’t want to do it too! haha
Empty packets/boxes back on the shelves/cupboards/under beds
Seriously!! I have less chance of finding them if you put them in the bin!! Don’t try and eat the last of something without letting anyone know then putting the packet back in the cupboard/shelf/under your bed! At least if you told me you had the last I can replace them when I go shopping, not when we are settled for a night in and go to get a chocolate bar/biscuit/crisps etc and find the empty bag!!
Rudeness
See above – manners cost nothing and surely we should be teaching our children to have manners too – lead my example! If they see you push past someone and don’t say excuse me or sorry they will follow suit! If you don’t say thank you or are on your phone when at a checkout (ggrrrr!) that is just bad manners – yes there are exceptions to every case but discussing what you are going to be wearing at the weekend or discussing little Johnnys school report can surely wait until you are home!?!
Complete disregard for others
Again, see above too! We were in CEX yesterday and someone (adult!!) left a half eaten sandwich on the shelf, someone else a coke can and others looking through piles of dvds and games then putting them back in piles on other shelves! The counter staff looked completely run off their feet and they even said its a regular occurrence! Now WHY when there are bins outside the doors do people feel the need to do this??! Would they walk around their own homes and leave half eaten sandwiches on shelves or pop a can of coke on the fireplace in the hope that someone else would move it?! Maybe…but probably not! Its one of those pursed lips face moments and Amelia has it down to a tee!
Corriander
Dirty horrible food of the devil – nuff said! Seriously though, even the thought of it makes my stomach flip and the smell, Mexican and Indian restaurants please take note and don’t put it in every dish, not everyone likes it! **shudder**
Lack of enthusiasm
I am a get up and go kind of person, I love doing things and find it hard if i have nothing to do. Having days where I just want to slouch on the sofa and Netflix are fabulous and yes love those days too! What I really don’t understand are people who go through life in a ‘yeah whatever’ slump….they don’t want to do anything, don’t want to go anywhere and don’t want to think about anything. I had a friend who was so on the fence it was draining! Having to make all the decisions and trying to rally her round into doing ANYTHING was a struggle and made me start to feel sluggish too! Nope – either go with it or don’t simples!!
Dog poop!
If you have a dog – pick it up, simple as that!! I have children who love to run ahead and on many occasion I have had to yell ‘mind the poop’ – seriously its not something I should have to shout in the street! I have been known to point it out too to those who may have overlooked their dog taking a recreational break in the middle of the park – and yes it may have been reciprocated with an index finger and words I cant type! *sigh*
Clothes that shrink overnight!
NO it wasn’t the meal out or the wine or the crisps…the damn things shrunk alright!!
XOXO

I’m so with on irritating noises! Other people chewing is just so argh!!! Just makes the hackles on my neck go up!!!
The people who don’t say thank you brings out the passive aggressive in me and I normally say “you’re welcome” out loud! Haha!
Brilliant post! ?Xxx
Manners! I get so fed up with people not saying please and thank you. It doesn’t cost anything to be polite. I send gifts to some friends but never get even an email to say the gift has arrived, on occasions I have even had to email them to see if the parcel had arrived. They get upset when they don’t get another parcel, then get annoyed when I say why. Table manners, I taught my boys how to sit at a table correctly and they know what each piece of cutlery is for, (I was taught that by my grandmother, she was in service) I was in a cafe having coffee when a family came in but the children didn’t sit still even after being served they were up running around. What has happened to courtesy. Am I old fashioned? I am sixty so I suppose I am!
Your pet hate is Coriander, mine is Coffee, Yukky stuff whoever discovered what were they thinking!
Julie xxxxx
Haha my husband’s always telling me off for being a noisy eater, he must have that condition. It makes me so self-conscious about eating though so not nice 🙁
People with no manners are a pet hate of mine too. And I can’t believe someone would leave a half eaten sandwich somewhere! Yuk.
Oh yes! Can totally agree with every single one!!
I can not stand noisy eaters UGH!!!
This post had me laughing so much! I love coriander but am with you on the manners. My partner always puts empty things back in the fridge and it proper gets me angry X
Miss Kitty Kaos – Adventures Of A Riot Grrrl
Putting an empty box back in the cupboard is so sneaky! I’d feel so disheartened if I wanted a snack and then discovered the box to be empty!
manners yes! a simple please or thank you just makes the day better. it doesn’t cost a thing
